The Pons family, renowned restaurateurs for their restaurant Miami ‘Can Pons’, with more than 50 years of experience in the hospitality and restoration industry, tells us the history of the Restaurant and Hotel, and how they have managed to combine comfort and good taste in their business, integrating it in one of the most privileged areas of the coast.
The Pons family began their business with the grandfather of the current owner, Joan Pons, with a picnic area located on the “Playa de los Hortets” a small cove on the outskirts of the town, where the people of Sant Carles went to be cooked by ‘grandfather Joan’.
Due to the success he had, he bought a piece of land next to the old National Highway 340, which crossed the town and with his son Joan, they built the restaurant Miami Can Pons. Time after and foreseeing the expansion of tourism in the area, they built a pension above the restaurant. The business grew until in the 70’s when they already had a luxurious restaurant, where banquets and celebrations were held, and a 3-star hotel with 70 rooms, the Miami Park hotel was called back then.
In 2000, Joan and his son and daughter Joan and Patricia, decided to change the current location and built the actual Hotel Miami Mar (the first of the ‘Delta del Ebro’ with a 4 stars category), and on the ground floor the restaurant Miami Can Pons, overlooking the garden and the Bay of ‘Alfaques’.
After many years of experience in the hospitality sector, all the family efforts have been directed to adapt their business into the customer needs and preferences, listening carefully to understand their concerns. For this reason, in this hotel, all these requirements and experiences have been considered so that our customers find an establishment up to their expectations. The Miami Can Pons restaurant offers our clients a traditional Mediterranean cuisine, cooking the best fish and seafood from the Bay of ‘Alfaques’ and ‘Delta del Ebro’ products. Rice dishes are highly recommended.
